Personal Profile
Art is my passionate and teaching is my aspiration. I am enthusiastic, motivated and keen to share my specialist ceramic knowledge and experience with others.
I have recently graduated from Cardiff Met with BA Hons Ceramics. Personally I enjoy all aspects of art, but through my degree I specialised in surface decoration techniques and developed my technical understanding of clay, glazes and firing schedules. I am confidant that my communication skills are effective and that my decorating techniques can be applied to all areas of art. I have a strong work ethic, good time keeping and multi-tasking skills; I am continually improving my own learning. I thrive on sharing my passion and knowledge.
Employment History
Primary Schools: 2008-2012 (work experience)
-Tondu Primary School
-Brynmenyn Primary School
-Porthcawl Primary School
Apollo Teaching Agency: 2011-2013
-Exam Invigilator
-S.L.O
I was able to gain invaluable experience, whilst continually adapting to different schools, learning styles and children’s needs.
Toe-by-Toe: 2009
Developing children’s reading and writing skills.
Secondary School 2013 (work experience)
Coleg Cymeddol Y Dderwen: Art Department
With my technical skills I was able to help the department with practical preparation, making plaster molds and blocks for key stage three classes, packing and unloading kilns, photographing and mounting pupil’s work and helping to set up a GCSE and A-level exhibition.
Every day I arrived excited. My most valued experience when at the secondary school was teaching my own class: planning and delivering a project, which I solely constructed within the ceramic discipline. Through this experience I learned the importance of children’s motivation and their personal creativity. I also saw the reality of teaching when witnessing and assisting in classroom discipline and structural routine.
